The Czech government has decided to reintroduce visa requirements for holders of Georgian diplomatic and business passports, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský announced on social media.
Lipavský claimed that the measure effectively suspends visa-free travel for Georgian officials and comes as a response to what Prague views as democratic backsliding in the country.
“At my proposal, the government approved the introduction of visa obligation for holders of Georgian diplomatic and business passports. This is how we react to the disrespect for human rights, suppression of demonstrations, and the weakening of civil society. The measure suspends visa-free contact with Georgian officials,” Lipavský stated.
