Tbilisi City Court has granted former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili bail in the amount of 1 million GEL as a pre-trial measure. The decision was delivered by Judge Eka Barbakadze on Wednesday.
In addition to bail, Garibashvili has been prohibited from leaving the country and his Georgian passport has been confiscated as part of the imposed restrictions.
The hearing focused on the prosecution’s motion to apply preventive measures against the former Prime Minister. The defense did not oppose the request.
Garibashvili has been charged under Article 194, Part 3, Subparagraph “c” of the Criminal Code, which deals with the legalization of illegal income involving particularly large sums. Further legal proceedings are ongoing.
