Georgia reported 5,219 coronavirus cases, 2,348 recoveries, and 42 deaths on October 20, the official figures show.
57,301 tests have been conducted in the past 24 hours throughout the country.
The testing revealed that Georgian capital Tbilisi recorded the highest number of 1,775 Covid-19 cases within the last 24 hours, followed by the Imereti region with 907 cases and the Kakheti region with 907 cases.
The daily test-positivity rate currently stands at 9,11%, while it was 9,02% in the past seven days.
The country’s total case tally reached 675,771, among them, 619,285 people recovered and 9,588 died.
Currently, out of 1,300 critical patients, 269 require mechanical ventilation.
As of today, 1,926,893 people got the coronavirus vaccine. About 30% of the population is fully vaccinated.
According to the NY Times, Georgia still ranks first in the world in terms of the spread of coronavirus.
Based on these data, there has been a 155% increase in coronavirus cases in Georgia during the past 14 days.
There are an average of 112 cases per 100,000 people detected in Georgia, which is the biggest number worldwide.
