The consideration of the legislative package prepared against the so-called LGBT propaganda is underway at the plenary session of the Parliament.
Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament and the Commission for Universal Public Review of the Constitutional Amendments, is presenting the package to the deputies. First, he is informing his colleagues about the results of the public discussion.
For information, the legislative package prepared against LGBT propaganda consists of 19 bills. The main one of them is the bill called “On Family Values and Protection of Minors”, and the rest 18 are bills derived from it.
The authors and initiators of the legislative package are Chairman of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili and members of the majority: Mamuka Mdinaradze, Anri Okhanashvili, Rati Ionatamishvili, Maka Botchorishvili, Davit Matikashvili, Tengiz Sharmanashvili, Irakli Shatakishvili and Sozar Subari. Based on the majority’s explanation, the purpose of initiating the draft law is to strengthen family values based on the union of men and women and mechanisms for the protection of minors.
