A physical altercation was seen in Parliament, where the so-called agents bills are to be discussed today.
Representatives of non-governmental organizations and journalists are not allowed to attend the joint session of the two committees, where the discussion of the mentioned draft laws is to begin. The citizens who came to Parliament demand the right to enter the committee meeting hall. The above caused a physical confrontation, with those outside trying to break the cordon of the law enforcement officers by force.
The joint session of the two committees was initially scheduled in the First Republic Hall, but the place of the committee hearing was later changed. Now the meeting will be held in the Jiuli Chartava Hall, which is smaller and can hold far fewer people than the First Republic Hall.
The Parliament is starting consideration of the proposed foreign agents bills. The draft laws entitled – “On the transparency of foreign influence” and “On the registration of foreign agents” will be discussed today at the joint meeting of the Foreign Relations and Defense and Security Committees of the Parliament.
The draft laws were presented by the members of the People’s Power, which is part of the majority.
