One of the leaders of the Coalition for Change party, Nika Melia, also co-chairman of the Akhali party, was attacked this week.
The incident happened when Melia was commenting to the media during the opening of a party office in Samtredia, when he was physically and verbally assaulted.
A young man is said to have run up to him, hit him in the face, and cursed him. The accompanying persons tried to ease the situation, but the attacker managed to reenter the building on the opposite side.
At the time of the incident, other leaders of the Coalition for Change were also present.
