Can You Really Achieve Your New Year’s Resolutions? – A New Episode of “There’s One Nuance”

შეძლებ საახალწლო მიზნების შესრულებას? – „არის ერთი ნიუანსის“ ახალი ეპიზოდი

The New Year is traditionally a time for rethinking priorities, embracing new ideas, believing in personal and collective potential, setting plans, and making promises—to ourselves and to others. But when the year comes to an end, how often do we stop to reflect on whether the promises made 365 days earlier were actually kept, or whether the plans we envisioned ever came to life?

This very question lies at the heart of the fifth episode of “There’s One Nuance”, a joint YouTube video series by TBC Bank and Niko Nergadze, titled “Can You Achieve Your New Year’s Resolutions?”

Does it truly make sense to set goals and make promises at the start of the year? What does science say about New Year’s resolutions? What percentage of them are actually fulfilled? These are the key questions explored in the episode. Drawing on scientific research and empirical data, the series’ author, Niko Nergadze, offers evidence-based insights into why some resolutions succeed while most fail.

The overarching aim of “There’s One Nuance” is to address topics that are often oversimplified in public discourse, yet in reality require deeper analysis, context, and a nuanced approach. Truth is rarely black and white—there is always context, always nuance, and it is precisely this complexity that makes discussion meaningful. In each episode, Niko Nergadze examines contemporary issues through the lens of scientific research, encouraging viewers to look beyond surface-level conclusions.

New episodes of “There’s One Nuance” are released every two weeks, offering in-depth discussions on a wide range of scientific and social topics. Previous episodes have explored questions such as:

• Do violent video games increase aggression in children?

• How reliable is the lie detector?

• I paid my child to read a book—was that the right decision?

• Does artificial intelligence reduce human intelligence?

For TBC, supporting educational platforms that foster public interest, critical thinking, and a research-driven culture is a key priority. The central belief behind this initiative is simple yet powerful: the pursuit of knowledge never ends, and meaningful answers emerge when we are willing to ask questions and pay attention to nuance.
