The German parliament will not support the start of EU accession negotiations until this law [on the transparency of foreign influence], as well as laws concerning individual freedom and human rights, are repealed, said Deborah Dühring, a member of the German Bundestag, representative of the Green Party, at the press conference held in Tbilisi.
The member of the Bundestag expressed her sorrow regarding the fact that Georgia was demoted from the position of leader among the candidate countries.
“Georgia was a leader among the candidate countries of the European Union, but, unfortunately, it fell to the bottom. I want to say unequivocally that Georgia will not be able to become a member of the European Union under the “Foreign Agents” law. This is not even up for discussion. “The German parliament will not support the start of EU accession negotiations until this law, as well as laws related to individual freedom and human rights, are repealed,” said the deputy.
For the record, members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag visited Georgia.
