The Minister of Justice, Rati Bregadze, said that the National Movement acts on the instinct of self-preservation and they wanted to use Mikheil Saakashvili’s health condition for their own political purposes.
Bregadze noted that imprisonment is naturally associated with certain stress. There are many prisoners who have some problems with adaptation at first, however, later they get used to it and psychologists work on this issue.
“I will emphasize – without a legal basis, no one can go to prison and no one can go out, and if we violate this, then we have to be guilty and we are not going to commit a crime,” Bregadze said.
The Minister notes that there is no precedent and neither the legislation allows the convicted prisoner to be taken abroad.
“We will always act in strict compliance with the law and, naturally, in accordance with the doctors’ recommendation, we will not open the prison door without a proper basis,” Bregadze added.
On May 12, the Former President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili was transferred to “Vivamedi Clinic” for examination.
