One thing is clear: the door to join the European Union is open for Georgia, but if the government continues on the same path, if it continues to do what it is doing, this door will be closed and the Georgian people will pay the consequences, they will be harmed, said Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy told journalists before the start of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg.
“We are going to discuss the current situation in Georgia and one thing is clear: the door of EU membership is open for Georgia, but if the government continues on the same path, this door will be closed and the Georgian people will pay the consequences. The European perspective will be reduced, even canceled. We are talking about serious issues. If everything continues like this, the door of the European Union will not remain open,” said Josep Borrell.
He claimed that today he will present a plan to the ministers of foreign affairs, which explains what can be done in the short and medium term, so that what is happening in Georgia does not continue.
