The district court of Zugdidi found Badri Esebua, who stands accused of the robbery of the Bank of Georgia, guilty of illegal purchase and possession of firearms and ammunition.
The said decision was announced by the judge of Zugdidi district court, Shota Bichia.
The judge sentenced Badri Esebua to 4 years in prison.
The defense demanded a minimum sentence based on the honest confession of the accused, which the prosecution did not agree with.
The Prosecutor’s Office filed another charge, purchase and possession of firearms and ammunition, against Badri Esebua on February 9.
Badri Esebua has been charged with several articles of Criminal Code. The investigation in this case was carried out under Articles 150, 236, 323 and 329 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to coercion, illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition, as well as terrorist acts and hostage taking of citizens for terrorist purposes.
Trials are still ongoing on other charges, including terrorism.
