Beka Liluashvili announces departure from politics, plans career in private sector

Beka Liluashvili, one of the leading figures of the political party Gakharia for Georgia, has announced that he is leaving politics and will continue his professional career in the private sector.

In a statement published on social media, Liluashvili said that with the beginning of the New Year he is closing an important chapter of his life after many years in public service and political activity.

“After many years spent in public policy and political activity, with the arrival of the New Year I am now publicly closing this important chapter of my life and plan to continue my work in the private sector,” he wrote. “I am grateful for the invaluable experience, responsibility, and trust that accompanied my work in Georgia’s public and political sphere. I am especially thankful to the people who gave me this opportunity and/or showed their support.”

Reflecting on his time in public life, Liluashvili noted that his years in politics provided deep insight into the country, its people, and his own professional path. He emphasized that the experience had a lasting impact on his personal and professional development.

Liluashvili claimed his future focus will be on technology, digital transformation, finance, and the broader economy. He stressed that meaningful and sustainable change can also be achieved outside of politics, particularly through building strong companies and supporting sectors that drive long-term economic growth.

“My professional focus is now on the private sector: technology, digital transformation, finance, and the economy. I believe that long-term and sustainable change also comes from building strong companies and supporting sectors that drive economic development,” he said.

At the same time, Liluashvili underlined that his departure from politics does not signal a retreat from public interest or civic responsibility.

“This does not mean abandoning public interest — this value remains the cornerstone of my work, and I will always and everywhere fight for the interests of our state and society,” he added.

Beka Liluashvili has been one of the prominent figures associated with Gakharia for Georgia, a party founded by former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, and has played an active role in shaping its economic and reform-oriented agenda. His decision marks a notable development within the party as it continues to position itself on Georgia’s political landscape.

Concluding his statement, Liluashvili thanked colleagues, supporters, and partners who accompanied him throughout his political journey.

“Thank you to everyone with whom I walked this path. A new stage lies ahead,” he wrote.
