Arm-wrestler Khatia Vibliani has been sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of imprisonment, suspended, following her conviction for assaulting a 15-year-old teenager. In addition, the court ordered Vibliani to attend a mandatory behavior correction course at the National Probation Bureau and restricted her right to change her permanent residence.
The ruling was delivered by Judge Konstantine Kopaliani who mentioned several mitigating factors in determining the sentence, including Vibliani’s remorse, admission of guilt and responsibilities as a parent of minor children.
The charges against Vibliani were initiated after the incident on September 11 in Tbilisi where she allegedly physically assaulted the minor inside a store and continued the assault outside the premises. The prosecutor’s office had charged her with premeditated violence against a minor.
With the suspended sentence, Vibliani will avoid immediate imprisonment, provided she complies with the court’s conditions, including completing the behavior correction program.
