In connection with the International Day of Guides, this an international conference of guides took place in Batumi. At the event, tourism experts and guides from Portugal, Scotland, South Africa, Estonia, Poland and Israel together with Georgian speakers talked about the importance of the guide profession and international experience.
The two-day conference, which Batumi was hosting for the first time this year, saw panel sessions in which guests discussed such important topics as the role of the tour guide as the ambassador of the tourist destination; global tourism and the guide profession – unique experience, modern technologies and challenges; and tourism and museums – the museum as a repository of cultural heritage and history.
The international conference of guides was organized by the Tourism Department of Adjara in Batumi.
Officials of the World Federation of Associations of Tourist Guides, the Association of Tourist Guides and Tour Managers of Portugal, Associations of Guides of Georgia and Adjara, and experts in the fields of gastronomy, wine and tourism took part in the conference.
