In the extraordinary elections of October 1, which were held in Gori and Gurjaani, the ruling party’s candidates won.
The Chairman of the CEC Giorgi Kalandarishvili presented the preliminary results of the October 1 interim/extraordinary elections.
According to the preliminary results, Giorgi Machavariani received 17,430 votes in the extraordinary elections for the post of mayor of Gurjaani. He did not have a competitor in the elections.
The preliminary results of the by-elections of the Parliament of Georgia in Gori are as follows:
Giorgi Sosiashvili (Georgian Dream) 93.77%
Mamuka Tuskadze (“For Social Justice”) 6.22%
Giorgi Sosiashvili is the acting rector of Gori State University.
Major opposition parties did not participate in the aforementioned elections.
Overall, the preliminary results of the mid-term elections of the Parliament of Georgia are as follows:
- No. 34 Mamuka Tuskadze (political movement of Georgian citizens “For Social Justice”) – 1,344 votes
- No. 41 Giorgi Sosiashvili (political union of citizens “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia”) – 19,032 votes
As for the extraordinary elections for mayor of Gurjaani, the preliminary results are as follows:
- No. 41 Giorgi Machavariani (political union of citizens “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia”) 14,450 votes.
As Giorgi Kalandarishvili stated at the briefing held at the CEC, the election administration had “successfully completed another stage of modernization of the elections.”
