Georgia’s tourism sector reached a historic milestone in 2025, recording the highest number of international tourist visits since data collection began. The National Tourism Administration stated that the country welcomed 5,521,866 international tourists last year, an increase of 8.4% compared to 2024.

When all forms of international travel are included, total visits reached 7,803,239, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 5.9%. The administration noted that growth was broad-based, with strong performance across European, Middle Eastern and Asian markets.

Travel from the European Union and the United Kingdom rose particularly sharply. In 2025, Georgia received nearly 500,000 visits from these markets, up 14% from the previous year. The fastest growth rates were recorded from Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom, each posting increases of around 40% or more. Significant gains were also observed from Greece and France.

Tourism from Gulf countries continued to expand, reaching 145,513 visits, a 3.4% annual increase. This growth was largely driven by Saudi Arabia where visitor numbers rose by more than 9%.

Several non-European markets also showed notable momentum. Visits from Israel increased by nearly 30%, Azerbaijan by over 33%, and China by more than 44%, showing Georgia’s growing appeal across diverse regions.

The final quarter of 2025 marked the strongest three-month period on record. Tourist visits in the fourth quarter exceeded 1.2 million, up 10.5% year-on-year while total international visits reached nearly 1.7 million, an increase of 7.6%.

The National Tourism Administration mentioned that sustained growth across a wide range of source markets confirms 2025 as the most successful year in Georgia’s tourism history.
