Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced that the city’s New Year slogan for this year will be ‘A City Full of Kindness,’ emphasizing the value of compassion amid ongoing social and political tensions. Speaking at a municipal government meeting, Kaladze said the theme reflects the mood of the past year and the message the city hopes to carry forward.

Kaladze noted that annual New Year slogans are tied to the achievements, challenges and spirit that shape public life. While mentioning recent national successes, most notably Georgia’s historic appearance at the European football championship, he also acknowledged that the country has faced moments of division, strained public dialogue, and fears of instability.

Against this backdrop, he argued that kindness should be seen as a unifying force. “We need more kindness toward one another, toward our city, toward those facing hardship, and toward citizens with different political views,” Kaladze said. He stressed that goodwill, rather than hostility, should guide both societal relations and the upbringing of the next generation.

The mayor added that compassion is essential given the wider global and domestic climate. “Kindness strengthens us most, it is the driving force behind every good deed,” he said.

In closing, Kaladze wished Tbilisi residents spiritual peace and unity. He urged the public to move beyond the tension and polarization that have left society ‘exhausted,’ and to let respect and understanding define the coming year.
