Zurab Zviadauri, Olympic champion and 90-kilogram judoka, has been detained by Georgian authorities. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) confirmed the arrest to the First Channel of the Georgian Public Broadcaster.
The Ministry stated that Zviadauri is being held under Article 236 of the Criminal Code which pertains to the illegal possession, acquisition and carrying of firearms. The arrest took place in Tbilisi, though further details regarding the circumstances have not been disclosed.
