The Ministry of Internal Affairs has reported that in the scope of nationwide coordinated operations, Georgian law enforcement has arrested 22 individuals, including 22 alleged drug dealers, in Tbilisi, Adjara, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, and Imereti.
Among detained individuals are citizens of Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, and Jordan, with charges linked to the illegal purchase, attempted purchase, and possession of great quantities of narcotics. Such offenses usually carry a sentence time of up to 20 years or, in a worse case, life in prison.
Officials have conducted undercover operations, mostly utilizing controlled drug purchases and covert recordings, all of which led to searches at suspects’ residences and seizure of significant amounts of illegal substances such as heroin, buprenorphine, ecstasy, suboxone, methadone, amphetamine, mephedrone, alpha-PVP, and marijuana.
