In order that no one can use the issues as a weapon of blackmail against the Georgian people – we have decided not to put the issue of opening negotiations with the European Union on the agenda until the end of 2028 – Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a press conference held at the party’s office after the meeting between the parliamentary majority and the government team.
Kobakhidze claimed that the use of interlocutors is being used to blackmail and divide society in the same way as the status of candidacy was used before.
“We made a decision not to put the issue of opening negotiations with the European Union on the agenda until the end of 2028. Also, until the end of 2028, we will refuse any budget grant from the European Union”, said the Prime Minister.
“It is categorically unacceptable to consider integration into the European Union as a mercy,” said Kobakhidze, who also criticized the European Parliament for adopting a resolution on the issue of Georgia.
For the record, The European Parliament has adopted a resolution calling for new elections in Georgia and sanctioning Georgian Dream officials and judges.
