WizzAir Resumes Regular Flights from Kutaisi Airport

The renovated D. Agmashenebeli Airport of Kutaisi has been opened for passengers, United Airports of Georgia reports.

The state-owned company notes that Hungarian low-cost airline WizzAir resumed flights from Kutaisi Airport to Warsaw and Vilnius starting today, April 18. Flights are set for once a week initially and will become more frequent later.

“WizzAir has resumed direct regular flights between Georgia and Europe, and since the outbreak of the pandemic, the first regular flight from Vilnius to Kutaisi was performed.

“We meet the summer navigation season with the renewed Kutaisi airport. From today, Kutaisi International Airport has resumed operations. The first flight was operated by WizzAir from Vilnius, the flight from Warsaw will also be performed today.

“Our airport terminal has been upgraded and expanded four times, which creates a total of about 30 thousand square meters of space – with common take-off and departure lounges and all the equipment needed to operate the airport.

“From May, WizzAir will also carry out flights from Kutaisi Airport to Riga and Dortmund, while from July to 13 more countries in Europe.

“Also, from May 2, a low-cost Kazakh airline FlyArystan will start operating at the airport of Kutaisi, which will operate direct regular flights between Central Asia and Georgia in three directions. Other news regarding the resumption of operations at the airport will be introduced gradually,” said Tamar Archuadze, director of the United Airports of Georgia.
