Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze received Pia Kauma at Tbilisi’s City Hall on November 15.
Pia Kauma has been the President of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe parliamentary assembly since 2023, as such, she strongly supported the European integration of Georgia.
She stated: “I would like to congratulate you on receiving a positive recommendation for granting the status of a candidate country of the European Union.”
As they discussed economic developments in the country and new projects for the city of Tbilisi itself, she said: “I really see construction and economic development in the country.”
They also talked about other wider subjects, like developments in the world and the parliamentary elections in 2024.
“We have made significant progress in terms of the country’s economic development, which was largely brought about by stability and maintaining peace. This progress will continue in the coming years, which will affect the population and their living conditions. This process will, of course, be facilitated by the granting of the status of a candidate country to the European Union in December, which Georgia has great expectations for,” Kaladze said.
“Together, we are stronger, and only together can we solve common challenges” Kauma had previously noted on her election during her inaugural speech. Those words particularly resonate after her Georgia meeting.
