In response to the ongoing situation in the capital city following heavy rain fall on Tuesday night which caused blackouts and serious flooding, the emergency support teams of various insurance companies worked tirelessly throughout the night. GPI Holding alone received approximately 100 claims from policyholders reporting losses. The majority of these claims pertain to property damage, affecting both residential homes and commercial establishments. Additionally, around 35 clients informed the company about issues with their vehicles.
To address this surge in claims, GPI Holding swiftly initiated a proactive evaluation of the damaged properties. Notably, a number of cases have already been successfully settled through online channels, streamlining the process for both the company and the claimants.
The calls to our hotline did not stop throughout the night,” says Shota Tarughashvili, head of the non-life loss support department of GPI Holding. “About 40 reports were related to damage to apartments. Heavy rain also caused problems for commercial facilities insured by us – among them there are shopping establishments. Citizens also contacted us about vehicle damage. In most cases, the cause of damage is flooding. GPI Holding is looking into each case individually. We act in the interests of our customers and respond promptly. In several cases, we were able to settle the loss online the same day.”
GPI Holding continues to study the damage caused by the heavy rainfall this week.
