In accordance with the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, Georgian rescue teams have gone to Turkey to participate in the rescue operations following the earthquake that rocked the Turkish Republic and Syria on Monday.
Appropriate machinery has also been sent to Georgia’s neighboring country.
In order to respond to the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Turkey, 60 firefighters, as well as rescue gear and machinery, were sent from the base of the Main Division of Emergency Response under the Emergency Situations Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The team of Georgian firefighters and rescuers, which departed for Turkey, is comprised of firefighters and rescuers trained for working in post-earthquake and rescue operations.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri, sent a letter of condolence to the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Turkey, Suleyman Soylu, on behalf of the Ministry, and expressed his sorrow over the natural disaster.
