The death toll from Russia’s large-scale overnight attack on Kyiv has risen to 30 after rescuers recovered three more bodies from the rubble of a destroyed residential building in the city’s Darnytskyi district, based on Ukrainian media reports.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on Thursday that July 3 has been declared a day of mourning in memory of those killed in the attack.
Klitschko stated that flags will be flown at half-mast on all municipal buildings. The city authorities have also recommended that public and private institutions lower their national flags. All entertainment events in Kyiv have been canceled for the day.
Russian forces launched a massive overnight assault on the Ukrainian capital on July 2, using drones and missiles. Rescue operations have continued since the attack as emergency workers search through the debris.
