Today, on May 17, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili announced at the meeting of the government that they are negotiating to bring in a million doses of “Pfizer” to the country this summer.
The PM noted that effective negotiations are underway with the manufacturers of the vaccine.
“One is the COVAX platform, from which we have already started receiving vaccines, the other is the vaccines obtained directly from the manufacturers. In a few days, we will have the opportunity to present detailed information to the public together with the Minister. To be more specific, we are talking about bringing additional Pfizer vaccines in the summer, in June-July. We are negotiating a million doses. I was also directly involved, I had a number of phone calls with the president of Pfizer. We are also negotiating with Chinese “Sinopharm” and “Sinovac” factories to supply additional doses. Plus “Moderna”, as well as the introduction of a new vaccine “Novavax”. We are very optimistic, we have signed agreements and we will receive additional doses in the coming months so that there will be no delay in the vaccination process,” said the Prime Minister.
