On September 27, 2025, a symbolic hike will take place in Tbilisi along the Mtatsminda-Kus Tba walking trail, the 32nd anniversary of the fall of Sokhumi. This event, organized for the second time by the initiative group ‘I Keep the Key to My Home’, seeks to preserve historical memory and honor those affected by the events of 1993.

The hike commemorates the journey along the Sakeni-Chuberi pass where countless individuals fled Abkhazia on foot under extreme conditions, facing freezing temperatures, lack of food and minimal shelter. Many lost their lives and survivors endured lasting psychological trauma.

Event Details:

  • Purpose: Reflection on the Sakeni-Chuberi route and preservation of historical memory
  • Organizers: Initiative group ‘I Keep the Key to My Home’, composed of young people displaced from Abkhazia and their allies
  • Starting Point:Park opposite Tvereli Church, Tbilisi
    • Time:13:00
  • Hike Route: Mtatsminda-Kus Tba walking trail
  • Final Event: Kus Tba, near ‘Ciskari’ Terrace
    • Time: 17:00
    • Activities:
