TBC Empowers Corporate Finance Managers with Annual Training Series
TBC has conducted a three-day annual training for financial managers of its major corporate clients. As in previous years, the sessions were organized in partnership with BDO Academy.
This year’s central theme was new standards in business management, covering topics such as:
- RPA and Digital Accounting: Data Synchronization for Tax and Financial Audits
- Key Tax Topics of 2024
- IFRS 16 – Leases
The lecture topics were selected based on a preliminary survey of the participating financial managers and delivered by BDO Academy’s expert trainers.
“TBC consistently listens to its partners and responds to their interests and needs in a timely manner. We are committed to supporting the professional development of the financial teams of our partner companies. For four consecutive years, we have been holding these targeted trainings in collaboration with BDO Academy, tailored specifically to financial managers. I am confident these sessions will support our partners in both daily operations and long-term financial planning,”
said Ketevan Kandelaki, Director of Non-Credit Business Product Management at TBC.
Turn Dreams into Plans: TBC’s New Campaign Encourages Goal-Oriented Saving
Open a Savings Account for the Things You Want – TBC’s New Campaign
Whenever we truly want something — a new item, a trip, an education, or a step forward in our career — the first question that often comes to mind is: “Where will I get the money for this?” Desires tend to come hand in hand with financial pressure.
TBC’s new campaign, “Open a Savings Account for the Things You Want,” sends a clear message: your dreams are not frivolous spending — they are meaningful goals you can prepare for in advance.
As part of the campaign, several videos and print visuals have been produced. Each one features individuals visualizing their personal aspirations and imagining the journey toward achieving them. On this path, TBC plays the role of a supportive partner — one that doesn’t question why a car tire might look like a pool float to you, or why you dream of going back to school.
We often perceive financial costs as obstacles that separate us from our dreams, making our desires feel valid only if we already have the full amount saved.
But this is where the idea of saving changes everything. It turns what seems distant into something real and achievable. A TBC savings account helps transform your wishes from burdens into actionable plans.
When your goal is clearly defined, you know exactly what you’re saving for — and that’s where the real shift begins. It’s the moment when your dreams become tangible. The more often you check in on your growing savings, the more clearly you see yourself getting closer, day by day.
Financial freedom isn’t always about a high salary or a sudden windfall. More often, it starts with small but consistent steps. That’s why a TBC savings account becomes the tool that doesn’t ask for heroism — just for you to start.
And when your starting point is tied to a goal you can see everywhere around you — everything becomes easier.

Social Design Days — A New Platform for Change-Oriented Design Backed by TBC
With the support of TBC, the Design Institute, in collaboration with Polish Graphic Design, hosted the first-ever Social Design Days Conference — a bold new initiative uniting change-makers across disciplines to explore how design can become a tool for social transformation.
The two-day event brought together over 400 guests and featured more than 15 sessions, including workshops and discussions. Participants included architects, designers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and representatives of the civil sector — all united around a single purpose: understanding how design can contribute to meaningful social change.
The platform aims to ignite dialogue around social design, foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, and develop creative, human-centered solutions to systemic challenges. Design, as a practical tool, has the potential to impact critical areas such as healthcare, education, urban development, cultural heritage, and the reimagining of public spaces.
Key themes of the inaugural conference included:
- Urban Spaces and Heritage
- Social Design Tools
- Branding and Social Responsibility
The event featured a diverse group of Georgian and Polish participants, including professionals, startups, and students. A strong emphasis was placed on hands-on practice — attendees co-created design solutions to real-life urban, community, and cultural challenges through collaborative workshops.
Social Design Days marks the beginning of a long-term platform that will continue through thematic meetups, public lectures, research projects, and educational programs.
The Design Institute’s vision is to create a space where professionals from various fields — including those already engaged in its initiatives — can unite around shared goals.
TBC proudly supports educational projects that empower individuals and help them grow. The brand’s mission is to encourage and uplift those who believe that through education, they can shape their own stories.
TBC Capital Publishes Macro Update: Key Trends in Georgia’s Balance of Payments
TBC Capital has published a new macroeconomic update, analyzing key developments in Georgia’s balance of payments. The report highlights significant shifts in both the current and financial accounts, with some recent dynamics diverging sharply from historical trends.
Current Account Highlights:
- While tourism revenues continue to grow moderately, exports of information and communication technology (ICT) and business services are expanding rapidly, reshaping the structure of service exports.
- The current account deficit—excluding reinvested earnings—remains significantly below its historical average.
- Despite this, the external balance deteriorated noticeably in Q1; however, the latest indicators point to improvements in Q2.
Financial Account Highlights:
- Net foreign direct investment (excluding reinvested earnings) remains subdued.
- Since 2022, Georgian residents have been increasingly purchasing foreign portfolio assets, mainly debt securities—an unusual trend for Georgia’s financial account.
- In recent periods, a significant share of the current account deficit has been financed through borrowing, across both public and private sectors.
- Foreign currency reserves have also played a role in financing; however, this trend is expected to shift in Q2 due to the National Bank of Georgia’s (NBG) large-scale USD purchases.
Detailed Insights:
In Q1 2025, the seasonally adjusted current account deficit reached 6.7% of GDP—up by 1.6 percentage points from the previous quarter’s 5.1%. The deterioration was primarily driven by a decline in labor income from abroad, a widening trade deficit in goods, and a drop in remittances. In contrast, ICT exports surged, significantly boosting the services surplus.
Latest indicators show signs of improvement in Q2:
- According to GeoStat, the trade deficit in goods shrank by 10.5% year-over-year in Q2, compared to a 16.2% increase in Q1.
- Per NBG data, remittances grew by 10% in Q2, reversing a 3.2% decline in Q1.
On the financial account side, over three-quarters of the Q1 current account deficit was financed through changes in foreign reserves, cash, and deposits. Notably, the National Bank increased its foreign exchange reserves by $377 million in Q2, largely due to USD purchases driven by stronger support for the Georgian lari. Between March and May, the NBG bought $613 million from the market, with interventions likely continuing into June and July.
As in recent periods, reinvested earnings accounted for the majority (67%) of net FDI in Q1. Portfolio investment trends are also noteworthy—Georgian residents continued acquiring foreign debt securities, which is a new development for the country’s financial profile. Partial redemption of debt securities issued by residents was also observed.
In terms of borrowing, public and private sector funding was roughly balanced in recent years, playing a key role in financing the current account deficit. However, in Q1, loan volumes grew only slightly.

- Photo: Rugby
According to the official decision by World Rugby, Georgia will host the 2026 World Rugby U20 Championship. The rising stars of international rugby will compete in stadiums across Tbilisi and Kutaisi.
This marks the second time Georgia will host this prestigious tournament. The first occasion was in 2017, when the championship made a lasting impression both locally and internationally.
The 2026 edition will be even more significant, as the number of participating teams will increase from 11 to 16. This expansion gives Georgian fans a rare opportunity to witness the next generation of global rugby talent live on home soil.
Next year, 11 teams currently competing alongside Georgia at the ongoing U20 Championship in Italy will travel to Georgia: South Africa, France, New Zealand, England, Argentina, Australia, Wales, Italy, Ireland, Scotland, and Spain. They will be joined by four additional teams—Fiji, the USA, Japan, and Uruguay—who qualified based on their performance at last year’s Trophy tournament.
We eagerly await the 2026 World Rugby U20 Championship. TBC’s decade-long partnership with Georgian Rugby continues to thrive, and we are confident that we will offer visiting teams and fans an unforgettable experience.
For TBC, as a proud supporter of the new generation, this championship represents more than just a tournament—it’s a powerful opportunity for young Georgian players to showcase their talent on the international stage and achieve new milestones.
