Borjgalosnebi Kick Off 2025 at Avchala – Backed by TBC!

Get ready to cheer! The Georgian national rugby team, Borjgalosnebi, is set to start their 2025 campaign with a European Rugby Championship match. Their first opponent in Group A will be Switzerland, making their debut in the tournament. The match takes place on February 1 at Avchala Stadium in Tbilisi, kicking off at 16:00.

Georgia has faced Switzerland only once before—31 years ago. On June 4, 1994, the Georgians secured a narrow 22:21 victory in Champs-de-Fonds.

Upcoming Matches in February

Borjgalosnebi will play three group-stage matches in the first three weeks of February:

🔹 February 1 – Georgia vs. Switzerland | Avchala Stadium | 16:00
🔹 February 8 – Georgia vs. Netherlands | Avchala Stadium | 15:00
🔹 February 16 – Spain vs. Georgia | Away match

The semi-finals of the European Rugby Championship are scheduled for early March, followed by the final two weeks later.

A Road to the 2027 Rugby World Cup

The 2025 Rugby European Championship doubles as a qualifying tournament for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia, which will expand to 24 teams. The top four teams from this tournament will secure direct qualification, while the fifth will compete in the repechage.

Georgia remains the most successful team in the championship’s history, having won 16 titles, including the last seven in a row.
