The Georgian National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) reports that 130,000 individuals have been vaccinated in the scope of the seasonal flu immunization program so far.
The NCDC pointed out that the program utilizes a four-component vaccine from the Dutch-based healthcare company Abbott Biologicals B.V., endorsed by the World Health Organization, to combat influenza A and B strains while preventing other circulating viruses such as rhinovirus and adenovirus.
“To prevent the virus, washing your hands, using disinfectants, wearing face masks in crowded places, ventilating rooms frequently, and, most importantly, getting vaccinated are especially important. Vaccination remains one of the safest and most effective safeguards against the flu,” Eka Adamia, NCDC Deputy Director, stated.
