- Discover TBC’s Tailored Offers for Agro-Entrepreneurs
For years, TBC has actively participated in nearly all state projects, enabling the bank’s experts to offer TBC borrowers the most suitable credit options and optimal conditions.
The “Concessional Agrocredit” program, overseen by the Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, is designed to support the production, processing, and storage-sale processes in agriculture by providing affordable and accessible financing. This preferential agrocredit is available for creating new agricultural enterprises, expanding existing ones, cultivating new perennial crops, and acquiring agricultural machinery. It also supports high-yield cattle farming and timber production.
Shota Gongladze, head of the state project management team at TBC Bank, highlights TBC’s unique startup approach as a key differentiator in agro-management. “TBC is the only bank offering startup agro loans across almost all agribusiness sectors. Our individual approach is unparalleled in the Georgian banking sector, as we do not rely on existing income to determine the loan amount needed for project financing,” says Gongladze. For those looking to venture into agribusiness, TBC offers loans with long-term grace periods, considering the projected future income of the financed project. This startup approach extends to various areas, including perennial crop cultivation, processing, and establishing high-productivity breeding farms. Even agro-tourism is supported under this initiative. Launched in the fall of 2016, TBC’s startup approach has since led to over 120 million GEL in investments.
The Business Universal Program enables businesses to finance both fixed and working capital while benefiting from state co-financing on loan interest. This program supports the creation of new enterprises, the expansion of existing ones, capital expenditures for production, and the refinancing of loans granted under the program.
The credit-guarantee mechanism, like Business Universal, is managed by the “Enterprise Georgia” agency. Its aim is to enhance access to business loans for beneficiaries lacking sufficient collateral. Through this program, a credit guarantee covers up to 80% of the principal loan amount provided by commercial banks or microfinance organizations. At least 80% of the loan must be used for capital expenditures, with the remaining 20% allocated for working capital. The program is available to beneficiaries with annual sales not exceeding 20,000,000 GEL, and the maximum credit guarantee term is 10 years.
In addition to these programs, TBC collaborates extensively with various donor organizations. Through a partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), TBC offers business loans for fixed asset financing, with 10% to 15% of the total loan amount refunded to the borrower upon successful project verification. The project’s goal is to encourage the adoption of EU trade standards across various sectors, including agriculture and animal husbandry.
TBC’s active collaboration with donors is another key strength. The bank is involved in the DFC (US International Development Finance Corporation) guarantee program, as well as financial support and guarantee programs from the EIB (European Investment Bank) and SIDA (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency), which focus on startups, green finance, regional businesses, and women in business. TBC is committed to advancing these crucial areas.
The advantage of partnering with TBC, whether as an individual or a business, is the ability to participate simultaneously in multiple programs covering a broad range of activities. Depending on the loan’s purpose, TBC offers borrowers the opportunity to combine participation in several programs tailored to the project being financed, creating a truly unique offer in terms of loan conditions and benefits.
