The head of the NATO Liaison Office, Rosaria Puglisi delivered a speech at the meeting of the Defense and Security Committee on the NATO-Georgia partnership. Puglisi noted that Georgia is a close partner of NATO and add that NATO actively supports Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
Puglisi stated that the Parliament is an important player in the NATO-Georgia partnership process and their activities are positively assessed.
“Georgia is a close partner of NATO, we have a unique, strong political cooperation. Georgia has been and remains one of the major participants in NATO peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan.
NATO actively supports Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations, and the day-to-day operations of our office are part of that support to make you stronger and better prepared to join the Alliance. Georgia will become a member of NATO, as was announced at the Bucharest Summit, and Georgia has all the practical mechanisms for that, and we encourage this country to use these mechanisms to its advantage. We feel that every step and any progress made towards consolidating reforms is a step towards membership,” said Rosaria Puglisi.
