Cynologists are working at four shopping centers in Batumi – Grand Mall, Metro City, Batumi Mall and Plaza, which have been fully evacuated following a bomb threat.
The employees at the shopping centers say that the law enforcement officers showed up on the territory at around 17:30, the work in all four shopping centers of Batumi was suspended, and the buildings were surrounded by yellow tape, prohibiting entry.
A message about the presence of explosive devices was spread on Russian-language Telegram channels, stating they would go off at 8pm. There was also mention that threatening phone calls had been received.
Explosives experts were also sent to Batumi International Airport.
TAV Georgia Company, operating the Tbilisi and Batumi International airports, said it received a call about the danger and carried out relevant procedures.
Due to the situation, Turkish Airlines delayed the 17:40 Batumi-Istanbul flight by two hours.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has yet to issue an official statement.
