Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine has agreed to a comprehensive 30-day ceasefire proposal suggested by the United States following high-profile discussions between the U.S. and Ukrainian delegation in Saudi Arabia.
“The American side proposed a full cessation of hostilities for 30 days—not just halting missile strikes, drone attacks, and bombings, but suspending all military actions along the front line,” Zelensky stated. “Ukraine is prepared to take this step, but now the U.S. must ensure that Russia follows suit.”
Ukraine had proposed three main things during the discussions: securing airspace by restricting missile strikes, aerial bombings, and long-range drones; ensuring naval security; and taking measures to establish trust as diplomatic negotiations continue. Finally, and most importantly, the Ukrainian delegation stressed the absolute necessity of a prisoner exchange.
“The U.S. understands our arguments and supports our initiatives,” Zelensky said, adding, “I want to thank President Trump for the constructive dialogue between our teams.”
As Ukraine agreed to a temporary ceasefire, attention is now drawn to Russia and its response to the U.S. diplomatic efforts.
