World Tourism Day 2024 kick-started today in Tbilisi, with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announcing that Georgia is among the countries prominent in the tourism industry. He also mentioned that tourism revenues in 2023 were $4.1 billion, exceeding pre-pandemic numbers by 26.2%. Predictions for this year include 7.9 million tourists and a revenue of $4.5 billion, translating to a growth of 9%.
Ahmed Al Khateeb, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism, addressed the interconnectedness of tourism and economic diversification, noting that it has a significant effect on the global economy and employment. The Minister also highlighted the importance of peace for the flourishing of tourism.
