Georgia’s National Food Agency has temporarily halted the operations of a Tbilisi-based dairy-product producer after inspectors identified serious regulatory violations during a recent check. The facility, owned by LLC “Veli” and located at 17 Barbare Eristavi-Jorjadze Street, had been producing and distributing dairy-containing items such as cottage-cheese–type and sour-cream–type products without the official authorization required by the agency.
The National Food Agency stated that the inspectors also detected a critical non-compliance related to hygiene standards. As a result, the business operator was fined and production was suspended until the company obtains the necessary recognition from the agency and resolves all identified issues.
The agency emphasized that monitoring of production and retail sites continues nationwide. It also encouraged the public to report any suspected food safety violations through the hotline 1501, noting that consumer involvement helps authorities respond more quickly and address problems effectively.
