The UAE’s humanitarian initiatives to provide humanitarian and relief support to Ukraine continue, and the country has succeeded in facilitating 7 mediations between Russia and Ukraine, with the latest mediation in August involving 230 prisoners from both sides. This brings the total number of prisoners exchanged between the two countries to 1,788.
As part of its humanitarian efforts since the onset of the crisis in Ukraine, the UAE has allocated $105 million to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, including sending 14 planes carrying humanitarian aid, operating two ships via Romania, delivering 1,015 tons of medical, food, and relief supplies, and sending 50 fully equipped ambulances to support the health sector in Ukraine.
Additionally, the UAE has supported Ukraine’s educational process by providing 7,500 laptops and 10,000 school bags. To address harsh winter conditions and power outages, it has sent 4,520 generators. The UAE has also assisted Ukrainian refugees in Moldova, Poland, and Bulgaria, transporting 125 tons of food and medical aid from the International Humanitarian City in Dubai via two aircraft belonging to international organizations.
