In the scope of a countrywide counterterrorism operation, the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) has arrested two Georgian citizens and taken necessary evidence from their residences.
The SSSG states that the operation was performed thanks to current intelligence conduct. Officials found ammunition, electronic devices, cash, and other significant materials during the searches, implying a possible link to an international terrorist organization.
“In the course of counterterrorism operations, multiple special operations were conducted simultaneously across the country,” the agency stated, noting the extent of the investigation, led by the SSSG’s Counterterrorism Center, abided by Article 328 of the Criminal Code of Georgia concerned with foreign terrorist organizations and their functioning in Georgia.
No further details will be revealed while the investigation is ongoing.
