Tuition at state universities in Georgia will become free not only for bachelor’s students but also for those admitted to master’s programs.
The change is part of a package of amendments to the Law on Higher Education, presented to the Sports Committee by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Zviad Gabisonia.
Gabisonia claimed studies will be free in all 19 state universities.
“We are making higher education completely free. This means a full state-funding model in state universities,” he said. “The existing grant system will be replaced with full state financing. Students admitted to state higher education institutions under the established quota system will be able to study entirely free of charge — at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels.”
