Following an incident involving Elon Musk’s child, President Donald Trump ordered the removal of the Resolute Desk from the Oval Office, media reports. The desk is 145 years old and has been present in the White House since 1880. It is currently under ‘minor restoration’ after Elon Musk’s child allegedly wiped his hands on it.
The Resolute Desk, a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes, has been used by many US presidents and is regarded as one of the most iconic pieces of furniture in the White House. The reports imply that after necessary restorations, the desk will be returned to its original place.
Insiders have noted that Trump is very particular about cleanliness, and has an aversion to germs, and was deeply displeased with the incident.
