The State Ministry for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of Georgia released a statement regarding the passing of 16 years since the 2008 Russia-Georgia war.
“As a result of the large-scale military aggression carried out against Georgia 16 years ago, the Russian Federation illegally occupied the indivisible territories of Georgia – Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.
“The State Ministry for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of Georgia honors the memory of heroes, fighters and civilians who died in the Russian-Georgian war of August 2008, fighting for the independence and territorial integrity of Georgia, and expresses its condolences to their families, relatives and the whole Georgia,” the SMR stated.
