“Ryanair’s routes from Georgia will not operate in 2021 for commercial reasons. We are currently working with all airports across the Ryanair network to agree on the necessary incentive schemes for a rapid recovery of air traffic.” – Ryanair
The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will not resume flights to Georgia in 2021, the company’s head office has confirmed.
“Ryanair’s routes from Georgia will not operate in 2021 for commercial reasons. We are currently working with all airports across the Ryanair network to agree on the necessary incentive schemes for a rapid recovery of air traffic as we make our way out of the coronavirus pandemic,” announced Ryanair’s Press Service.
The restriction on regular air traffic has been lifted in Georgia since February 1, 2021; however, the quantity of flights is still low.
Ryanair flew from Kutaisi Airport to Marseille and Bologna, and from Tbilisi Airport to Milan. In total, by 2020, the airline planned to operate flights from Georgia to 12 destinations in Europe, but the pandemic put a hold on all its plans.
Ryanair’s decision to suspend its routes to Georgia this year will be another huge impediment to the recovery of Georgia’s tourism industry.
