“The sound of explosions was heard in many Ukrainian cities. We are declaring martial law throughout Ukraine,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated he intended to start a special military operation in the Donbas, and Russia has since started artillery attacks on Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odessa.
As CNN reports, troops and military vehicles entered Ukraine from the border with Belarus. Hundreds have been affected by the rocket attacks.
“At around 5 am, an attack began on the state border of Ukraine by the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. It was carried out by Russian troops backed by Belarus,” states the Border Service.
The Border Service reports an attack also took place from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
