Rikoti Project on Track for 2024 Completion, Minister Karseladze Provides Progress Update

The entire Rikoti project will be completed in 2024, as announced by the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, in the Parliament, where the minister is listened to in the format of an hour.

At this time, 48 of the 51 tunnels envisioned by the Rikoti project have already been cut, and 83 of the 97 bridges have been constructed. Karseladze claims that the new road adheres to all modern safety standards.

“In total, 261 km of the East-West international highway have already been opened, and construction works continue on 81 km of the highway, namely: Osiauri-Chumateleti; Chumateleti-Khevi; on the sections of Shorapani-Argveta; On the 3rd lot of the Samtredia-Grigoleti main road, and the 1st lot, based on the conclusion of the current examination, an appropriate engineering solution will be developed to restore the bridge; Traffic on the 5 km stretch of the Grigoleti-Kobuleti section was opened in 2022, a 6 km section of the road will be opened this year, and a 3 km section will be completed next year,” said Irakli Karseladze.

As the minister mentioned, within the framework of the project, special spaces, are the so-called Shopping areas where residents can sell their products.
