Tengiz Abuladze’s film “Repentance” is back at the Cannes International Film Festival after 34 years.
The restored version of the film was presented by Nana Janelidze and Avtandil Makharadze with the representative of the film festival Joël Chapron.
The film was presented in the “Cannes Classics” section, which has existed since 2004. In this section, they show films previously screened in the Film Festival program.
The world premiere of “Repentance” took place in Cannes in 1987. The film won three awards at the Film Festival. In 1988, Repentance was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.
