Public Defender Levan Ioseliani spoke about the false media reports that doctors that are members of the Medical Council wishing to monitor Mikheil Saakashvili’s medical services are waiting for his permission to visit the third president.
As the Public Defender noted, when there is a need, the Medical Council itself can decide to visit the convicted person and the Public Defender does not interfere in this process, except for the formal part related to the issuing and signing of documents necessary to visit a convict. That matter, he noted, has been resolved and credentials will be provided to said doctors at any time, upon request.
The Public Defender met the members of the Medical Council last week and informed them about Saakashvili’s desire to be visited by them. In addition, Ioseliani unequivocally confirmed at the meeting that the Council would have all kinds of support from him.
The Public Defender emphasized once again that all the monitoring mechanisms that the Public Defender has regarding Saakashvili’s health are maintained and this process will not be hampered by him.
