Offering its thousands of protesters a change of scene from the parliament building of the past three weeks, the student organizers of tonight’s rally have encouraged those against the new “Russian law” to take to the wider streets around the capital, bringing the protest to those who might not have been able to join them otherwise.

So far, they have traveled by bike and foot up Rustaveli Avenue, down Kostava Street and have gathered in Heroes’ Square. Flags are being waved, “No Russian Law” shouted, and “Saqartvelo!” chanted. The spirits are high and positive.

The next destination is the Left Bank of the Mtkvari River, where we can presume they will complete a circle heading back to Freedom Square. Needless to say, traffic is at a standstill.
