The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, stated at the Executive Government Meeting on September 5 that export has increased significantly, by 40%, while remittances have increased by 46.8%, in absolute terms exceeding $300 million.
“The economic growth indicators were officially released at the end of August. They prove that 10.3% was the rate in the past seven months, truly unprecedented in the world. Huge challenges are faced against the background of current developments in Ukraine not only within Europe, but globally, with a spillover effect and related problems. Yet, we managed to have a double-digit economic growth rate.
“Further, export volumes have risen significantly – by 40% and remittances have increased by 46.8%, thus exceeding $3 million.
“In the private sector, business turnover has increased substantially and the level of employment rose in both in Q1 and Q2. Business turnover increased by 25% in January-June 2022, which is a very gratifying indicator,” Garibashvili noted.
