The Pece Flame was lit for the upcoming Bakuriani 2025 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival at Rome’s historically significant grand ceremony of ‘Mercati di Traiano’. The event is scheduled in 53 days with prominent figures, such as Georgia’s Minister of Sport Shalva Gogoladze, European Olympic Committee President Spyros Capralos, and Georgian Olympic Committee President Leri Khabelov, to attend.
Minister Gogoladze pointed out Georgia’s preparedness to host a festival of this kind, emphasizing the newly constructed infrastructure in Bakuriani, Tbilisi, and Batumi. Capralos presented the symbolic olive tree to Gogoladze and Khabelov during the ceremony, with athletes like Nika Egadze and Anastasia Mirianashvili participating.
Bakuriani 2025 will run between February 9-16, featuring eight winter sports, making Georgia the eighth European country to host both summer and winter youth Olympic festivals.
