“My wish was for the delegation of the Speaker of the Parliament to be multi-party. Yesterday, we had a conversation with the representatives of our opposition, we offered equal representation, but we could not reach an agreement,” said Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament regarding Georgia’s upcoming visit to Ukraine. He added that this visit will most likely take place in the coming days.
Papuashvili noted that they offered their colleagues the chance to take one representative from each political group, yet the majority agreed not to increase the representation. “Although in this case the principle of equality will be violated, the opposition will be represented in the majority, but in this situation, I think this offer was correct. Therefore, I will ask the opposition to name their candidates timely. I will communicate with all political groups, as everyone understands that organizing this visit is not easy,” Papuashvili said.
